Together with Esmay Wagemans, MAISON the FAUX has developed Dryad, a physical immersive installation. When entering the green lit space you will find three trees standing in stillness. In each of them a Dryad resides, frozen within a sea of synthetical greenery channeling the mythical divinity of the man-made woods. Dryad questions our synthetical identity and our romanticized desire to (re)connect with nature.

Are we as homo synthetica still able to become part of the age-old natural ritual of dying and returning to the rotting earth? We plant trees to shed the guilt of our city trips and the gas we pump. We romanticize nature and we hug trees in our polyester suits to crawl back to our computer. Will our roots ever be grounded in earth again? Or do we hate the dirt on our Balenciaga's? Do we need "real" nature to feel connected to the circle of life we are all a part of?Our three Dryads will ask you those questions.

Dryad is part of Floriade Expo 2022 at Museum M. from 14 April until 9 October 2022
