Order versus anarchy, reason versus emotion, ecstasy versus composure: the play “Bitch, I’m a Goddess” draws on the ancient myth of the Bacchae and describes a world that is threatening to cave under the weight of ever more radicalized opposing forces. In “Bitch I’m a Goddess”, the central point is not the duality between God and Goddess, but the elimination of the binary view on humans and history.

Reason or emotion – is either of them capable of safeguarding the fragile constructs of our communal lives? Anti-democratic forces are making an impact in Europe and beyond. What is our reaction, what can we do without succumbing to populism? Director and choreographer Guy Weizman addresses these issues, which are of elementary importance for the way we live together. Members of the acting companies of Schauspiel Hannover and NNT Groningen developed a show that combines drama, dance and performance.

"Bitch, I'm a Goddess" was in theaters from February 19th until May 29th 2022 in the Staatstheater in Hannover, Germany.
