On the 12th and 13th of December 2020, Compagnietheater was bransformed into an alternate universe by creative studio MAISON the FAUX in collaboration with artist Stef van Looveren, sound designer A. Crespo Barba and performer Arno Verbruggen. The performance 12 invites you into a world of fashion, sculpture, performance, and the psychology of Carl Jung. The artists explore the concept of identity and ask the question: when are you “real” and when are you “faux”?
12 explores the 12 archetypes of philosopher and psychologist Carl Jung. Research into identity, symbolism and characters plays an important role in both MAISON the FAUX and Van Looveren’s work. Most, if not all, people have different archetypes in their personality construction. In his work, Carl Jung defined 12 primary types that symbolize the basic human motivations, such as The Hero, The Caretaker, The Rebel, The Wise. 12 puts this philosophy to work. How many characters do we carry in us? How do they manifest themselves? And who distinguishes faux from real?
